چکیده

Spruce sawdust (lignocellulose material) was magnetically modified after contact with a water-based magnetic fluid containing maghemite nanoparticles. This procedure allows one to use the prepared material as a new magnetic affinity adsorbent in magnetic separation techniques. The magnetic sawdust was investigated by means of electron spin resonance spectroscopy and conventional magnetic methods over the temperature range 4–300 K. The experimental results clearly show that the magnetic behaviour of the sample is determined by two distinct magnetic contributions. One of them is connected to the presence of isolated single domain maghemite nanoparticles of ∼11 nm in diameter, which exhibit superparamagnetic behaviour at T > 280 K. The other one is related to the presence of agglomerates of particles coupled by magnetic dipolar interactions.

Organic Material Dissolved During Oxygen-Alkali Pulping of Hot-Water-Extracted Spruce Sawdust

Untreated and hot-water-extracted (HWE) Norway spruce (Picea abies) sawdust was cooked using the sulfur-free oxygen-alkali (OA) method under the following conditions: temperature, 170 °C; liquor-to-wood ratio, 5:1 L/kg; and NaOH charge, 19% on the oven-dry sawdust. In comparison with earlier studies conducted with birch sawdust, the spruce cooking yield data, together with the amount of the pul...

Mixed convection on radiative unsteady Casson ferrofluid flow due to cone with Brownian motion and thermophoresis: A numerical study

In this study, the Brownian motion and thermophoresis effects on the MHD ferrofluid flow over a cone with thermal radiation were discussed. Kerosene with the magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4) was considered. A set of transformed governing nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equations were solved numerically using Runge-Kutta based shooting technique. A simulation was performed by mixing ferrou...

MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS OF NEWLY DESIGNED TWO POROUS LAYERS SLIDER BEARING WITH A CONVEX PAD UPPER SURFACE CONSIDERING SLIP AND SQUEEZE VELOCITY USING FERROFLUID LUBRICANT

This paper proposes mathematical modeling and analysis of ferrofluid lubricated newly designed slider bearing having convex pad (surface or plate) stator with two porous layers attached to the slider. The problem considers the effect of slip velocity proposed by Sparrow et. al.[1] and modified by Shah et. al.[2] at the film-porous interface. The squeeze velocity V=−which appears when the upper ...

Cooling Enhancement of a Photovoltaic Panel Through Ferrofluid Stimulation Using a Magnetic-Wind Turbine

Wind energy is used to rotate a magnetic turbine in order to remove heat from the surface of a photovoltaic (PV) panel. A three-bladed turbine, which rotates with wind energy, has rotational motion underneath the studied PV panel in order to move Magnetic Nano-Particles (MNPs). In addition, effects of the magnetic field strength (B=450-830 mT), rotational velocity of the magnetic turbine (ω), a...

Application of magnetized Sawdust Cross-linked by polyethyleniminefor removal Zn2+ from aqueous solution

The need to elimination heavy metal from aqueous solutions cannot be over emphasized.Very studies have investigated the removal heavy metal from water. In this study a new magnetic nanocomposite of PEI on magnetized Sawdust (SD/MNP/PEI) was prepared. Investigations were conducted to study the adsorption behavior of heavy metal Zn (II) on the SD/MNP/PEI nanocomposite in aqueous medium by varying...
